It is much harder to cheat online, as the major websites have some very advanced techniques to seek out even the most expert of cheaters.  Poker cheat techniques can vary drastically in skill. Collusion is a form of poker cheat where two or more players sit at the same table and pretend not to know each other, but have a strategy in place. There are several forms of collusion, ranging in complexity. Soft play collusion is when a player fails to bet or raise in a situation that they normally would in order to save their partner money. Whipsawing is another method of collusion where partners raise and reraise each other to trap the other players in between. Another form of collusion is called dumping. This is when a poker cheat will purposely lose to their partner. The most common form of collusion is signaling – this is when partners signal messages to each other across the table in various forms to let them know what their cards are.

These are just a few of the ways that poker cheats work. Casinos and online poker websites are increasingly becoming aware of new ways of cheating in poker and are implementing advanced methods of detecting cheats. You should always report a cheater to the dealer or website administration, as it is not fair on you or the rest of the players who are playing fair.
