When you are playing Internet Casino Blackjack your goal is to beat the value of the hand held by the dealer. You have to have a hand combination that is higher than the dealer's hand in online Blackjack and you cannot have a hand combination that exceeds a value of 21. If you get a hand value that equals more than 21 this is called busting and you lose the hand. When playing Blackjack in a casino setting or when you are playing Internet Casino Blackjack, you will always play your hand first and this means that if you bust the dealer will win automatically, even if their card hand exceeds the value of 21. Face cards equal ten in Blackjack and Aces can equal either a one or an eleven. All other cards keep their face value in the game. The values of cards are added together to determine the entire value of the hand. Hands with aces with a value counted as eleven are identified as soft hands; hands with aces with a value counted as one are called hard hands and cards that have no aces in them are also called hard hands in Blackjack. After you place your wager in Blackjack, all players are dealt a total of two cards to start the game. When the dealer lays his or her cards on the table, one of them is visible and the other is face down. Your cards may be given to you both face down, one card up, or with both cards up depending on the house rules. Once you view your cards you have to decide if you want to take on more cards to try to get 21 or as close to 21 as possible: this is called asking for a hit. You can also decide to stand on the hand you have: this means that you get no more cards to add to the hand's value.
